Gallatin Field airport has announced that United Express will begin offering direct weekend flights to and from Los Angeles in June.

United Express now offers direct flights from Gallatin Field to Chicago, San Francisco and Denver.

The weekly flight to and from Los Angeles will make Gallatin Filed the only airport in Montana to offer direct connections to two Californian cities, said Brian Sprenger, assistant airport director.

The service will be seasonal, discontinuing during the fall and spring months, according to a schedule released by the airport. The summer season begins June 7 and runs through Aug. 30. The winter schedule begins Dec. 20 and ends March 28.

Flights will arrive in Bozeman at 10:07 p.m. on Saturdays and leave Bozeman at 6:30 a.m. on Sundays.

* Sprenger attributed the expanded service to efforts by Big Sky businesses to expand service to and from in California and United Express’s success with its San Francisco route.

As of Friday, a one-way, nonstop flight to Los Angeles in mid-July was $235.
